Eco friendly silver jewellery cleaning

Although silver dips are great for bringing back the sparkle to your silver, the humble bicarbinate of soda is your friend if you want an eco friendly alternative.
For this method you will need bicarbinate of soda, a bowl, silver foil, a soft brush like a bamboo toothbrush and boiling water.
- Line the bowl with tin foil shiny side up
- Add your silver jewellery to the bowl
- Sprinkle over about a tablespoon of bicarb
- Add the boiling water so the jewellery is covered
- The solution should fizz, leave it for about 10 minutes
- Remove your jewellery from the bowl and rinse well in clean water
- Dry with a soft cloth
- If your jewellery is very tarnished you can try rubbing a paste of bicarb and vinigar or lemon juice over it with a soft toothbrush (always rinse well after and dry)
Please note if your silver jewellery has stones in it, please check they can be submerged in water first and they won't react with vingar/lemon juice
